Meet my new assistant, Eleanor~

I'm pleased to announce that I now have an assistant, Eleanor, who will be helping around the office with sales, shipping, and inventory. She started in November helping with the holiday crush, but it's worked out so well that she'll be continuing into the new year!

Now accepting credit card payments via Square~

The Red Camel will now be accepting credit card payments at vending events via the Square. I'll be swiping your card and you can sign for your purchase directly on my phone. You can then have your receipt sent to your smart phone or email address. Simple and easy!

New inventory on the way~
New things are coming! We're currently awaiting shipments from India and Morocco and will soon have several large shipments from Pakistan underway. Look for Sneak Peeks early next month!

THIS ISSUE'S WEB TIP~

What are the new changes you've made to the layaway policy?

I've recently lowered the minimum amount of purchase that is eligible for layaway! It used to be total purchases of $200 or more, but now you can put purchases of only $150 in layaway, and some higher priced single items are now eligible for layaway! all the info is here.

Can I put things in layaway directly through the web site?

Unfortunately that is not an option yet, but I'm working on it! For now though, if you'd like to put items in layaway, just send me an email to layaway@redcamel.net and I'll get you started!

THIS ISSUE'S FEATURED ITEMS~

MOROCCO AND ALGERIA~

I'm sure you've seen some of the colorful Moroccan and maybe some of the Algerian pieces that The Red Camel has made a regular part of its inventory. These items usually have red or green glass jewels and enamel in red, blue, green, orange and yellow.
Necklaces, cuffs, pendants and headpieces can all have enameling.

Other pieces can be adorned with niello (a ), stamped designs or simple engraving. As with other Middle Eastern and Central Asian cultures, the color red or coral is highly protective in North Africa and many older pieces will have carnelian or pieces of real coral instead of glass insets.

COWRY SHELLS~

The Red Camel always stocks cowry shells for DIY projects. Cowries have been used for decoration in many areas of the world and even as currency in some cultures. There are several varieties of cowry, some are even a bit purple! The Red Camel's cowries are sold in packs of 50 shells and have the back sliced off so it's easy to sew them to costuming. Just stitch around and through both ends to attach to belts, bras, bags - anywhere you need a flash of white.

Extra bonus - cowries show up extremely well under stage lighting!

KUCHI PENDANTS - THE COLOR! THE JINGLE!

Kuchi pendants are some of the most interesting and varied tribal dance jewelry items available. These pretty and colorful items are the original tribal dance jewelry. Even though genuine old Kuchi pieces are few and far between these days, reproductions are readily available in traditional designs and at reasonable prices. The Red Camel always has a good variety of Kuchi pendants in stock. Whether you're looking for something large, small, quiet or jingly, you'll be sure to find something that fits your needs!
