STRAIGHT FROM THE CAMEL'S PACK~

Finally!

Up until this week, winter really seemed to be dragging. But now we've gotten a bit of a warm up and I'm really looking forward to spring. This is the type of weather that gives me renewed energy! Fortunately I've recieved several shipments recently that have given me plenty to do. I've also updated the events calendar, so be sure to check to see when I'll be bringing some great items to your area. The Red Camel Open House has also been scheduled for Saturday the 26th this year. Stop by the office for a snack, 10% off regularly priced merchandise and some great conversation about tribal jewelry!

Red Camel Costuming Workshop
One of my new winter projects is a costuming workshop that I'll be giving at the Angels & Absinthe event here in St. Louis the first weekend in March. My sister (designer and maker of most of the Red Camel Designs belts) and I will be instructing a two hour workshop on creative costuming - how to make a costume that really stands out, how to work with tribal costuming elements and a brief review of making a costuming bra and belt set. You can see all the details here. Our workshop will be on Friday afternoon followed by a 'stitch & bitch' at Mokabe's coffee house. We will both be present to help with any costuming questions you might have!

This Month's Web Tip:
On a budget? There are several places to find great tribal items at low low prices! Marked down items can be found in the Sale Basket. While there aren't always lots of items in here, this is the place to find anything that has been hanging around for a while or things that have come in and don't quite meet the usual Red Camel standard and you might just get lucky and click through on a day when I've added some great things! Another place to find less expensive items in the new $20 & Under category. This is a new category on the web site specifically for items at a lower price. Finally if there are several of you ordering, find great deals for all of you in the Discount Lots section. These are items combined into lots of similar pieces and all are priced for bulk sale. I hope that you'll be able to find something you love in these sections of the web site! If you have any questions about using the web site or how to order, please email me at deb@redcamel.net.

As always, thanks for being an eNewsletter subscriber!

THIS ISSUE'S FEATURED ITEMS~

BEAUTIFUL TURKOMAN PENDANTS

I've recently received some older authentic Turkoman pendants. The two pictured are side pendants from a headpiece.

These are 16.5 inches long from end to end. Each piece has traditionally styled sections connected by handmade chain and red glass lozenge-shaped jewels. $180 for the set. You can see all the details and more photos here.

There are a few more Turkoman pendants already on the site and a couple more to be added soon!

BEADWORK MEDALLIONS, BANDS AND PANELS

I have lots and lots and LOTS of beadwork in stock right now. Some medallion pairs, some medallion pairs with connecting bead or mirrorwork panels and some larger beaded panels.

Some are already listed here.

I'm uploading more of these onto the web site everyday, so keep checking back to see more (and MORE)!

ANOTHER NORTH AFRICAN CURIOSITY...

These little 'rings' are called zinder crosses because they originally were produced near Zinder, a city in Nigeria.

They are made from mixed metals or silver and can be different sizes, although they are usually similar in shape. They originally represented a measure of millet (grain) and can be worn in the hair or as pendants.

These pieces are too small to be worn as rings, but look lovely incorporated into necklaces and other jewelry pieces. Soon to be listed on the web site!
