THIS ISSUE'S WEB TIP~

Why isn't express mail an available option when ordering through the web site?

Express mail is not listed as an option on the web site because many times I am away from the office (at vending events for example) that may prevent me from being able to send items by next day service. If you ever need to have an order delivered by express service, I will do everything I can to accommodate that request, but there are times when it may not be possible. Please email me for inquiries about express services.

Can I request express mail, signature delivery or some other delivery option that isn't listed on the web site?

The Red Camel's web hosting service does not support some shipping options. If you need to have an item delivered by UPS, have a delivery signed for, or you would like to request other shipping options not listed, just let me know by email. I can ship by most methods available, even if they aren't listed on the web site.

To request alternate shipping, email info@redcamel.net.

THIS ISSUE'S FEATURED ITEMS~

YEMEN COLOR~
Yemeni jewelry is distinctive. It is often colorful and the metalwork can be highly detailed with wirework, granulation and goldwash. Long ago, many of the master jewelers making silver Yemeni jewelry were Jewish. That beautiful Yemeni style is still alive today, although the Jewish masters have moved on. If you find a signed piece of silver jewelry from Yemen that is older, chances are it is from a master Jewish jeweler!

Necklaces and a few rings have finally arrived with more expected soon. The unrest and conflict in Yemen and Saudi Arabia right now have made it very difficult to get items from that area. My contact was able to ship a few pieces, but delivery took a very long time and we are still working to make things run a bit more smoothly. In the meantime, the items shown at right are currently in stock and available. Please email info@redcamel.net for more info and prices.

SMALL TURKOMAN COTTON/SILK TASSELS~

Small cotton Turkoman style tassels are often the perfect thing to polish off your costume. The Red Camel has deep red and black cotton/silk blend single 4 inch tassels in stock right now. These little beauties have a loop at one end with a removable blue bead, and white glass beads at the other. Priced at only $1 each, they are quite affordable and look amazing in a large mass at the bottom of a belt. Great for any of one thousand uses!

WORKING WITH CHAIN FRINGE~

Chain fringe has been a favored tribal costuming component for many years. Not only does it add a movement to a costume, but also a bit of jingle and reflects light well.

Using handmade chain fringe isn't difficult but it's important to remember a couple of things. First, since the links are handmade, be sure not to clip the chain too short for the space you wish to decorate. Use a pair of wire cutters to clip the appropriate link. Remove the small left over pieces since they will be sharp.

Sew the chain to your costume by looping sturdy upholstery or craft thread through one end of every link, keeping your stitches consistent. Don't make your stitches too tight or the chain will draw up and become shorter as you go. Leaving a little bit of slack in your thread will help keep the chain nice and straight and help to keep it from bunching.
